If you’re not working the job you listed yesterday, how do you feel when you look back on your old goal? If you are, what would you go back and tell your younger self?
Dear Younger Me,
Remember the time you were supposed to attend Swimming Lessons but you didn’t? How about when you enrolled in Ballet, but you didn’t even make it to day one? Have you forgotten to listen to Mommy when she told you to follow her footsteps? Look where you are now, are you even remotely happy?
Please, stop making all those excuses. You messed up. You should’ve put more effort when they asked you to run for Representative for Freshmen back in High School, or when your best friend asked you to take on the role of Treasurer, even if you actually sucked at Math.
YOU COULD HAVE ACHIEVED A LOT MORE.
Instead of waking up late and penning things down, you could have followed Mom’s career path. And while you enjoy the glory of seeing your work on paper or online, you could have helped a lot of people if you only went to Medical school, just like Mommy. But you didn’t. You chose to go your own way. There’s no turning back now.
In the words of Elphaba and Glinda, “I hope you’re proud how you would grovel in submission to feed your own ambition.” “So though I can’t imagine how, I hope you’re happy right now.”
Dear Future Self,
SHUT UP AND LET ME DO MY THING. YOU’LL BE FINE!!!
PS: You’re crazy! What the heck got into you?!
