Today, for Silver Threading’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday, the quote I chose was from one of my all-time favorite authors, JK Rowling, and yes, there’s no question there; it’s a Harry Potter quote:
I got this photo from Buzzfeed’s 64 Reasons Growing Up At Hogwarts Ruins You For Life and it doesn’t hold true just for Harry Potter, but also for all the books I own. One of the reasons I love reading wasn’t just the feeling of escapism, but the fact that it’s the only thing that you can count on to never leave you; it soothes your worries and take you to a whole new world, not judging what you think about its world. This is also one of the reasons why I’m mostly annoyed by people who keep saying that a book is just a book. I swear, I wanna strangle that person when someone says it. They just don’t understand, especially this particular series. Harry Potter is more than just a children’s book. It educates you about the concept of love, loyalty, friendship, bravery, sacrifice, racism, sexism, and good vs evil. If adults who keep lambasting it would just take some time to read it, they would understand why fan boys and girls love it so much.
