The Other Me

Meet my Doppelgänger.
She’s awesome, but I don’t know her name.
(Trust me, it’s not me)

Today, the Daily Prompt’s Doppelgänger Alert asks:

You step into an acquaintance’s house for the first time, and discover that everything — from the furniture, to the books, to the art on the wall — is identical to your home. What happens next?

When I was in college, one of my friends texted me and asked if I have ever posed for a foreign magazine and I said, “Uh, yeah, in my wildest dreams!” The next day, she came up to, handed a spread she tore from the said magazine. I was speechless when I saw the page. It was as if looking at the mirror. Holy freaking shit!

I then wondered whether I was adopted or not. That girl staring back at me from the pages of the magazine were so identical to myself except for two things — my eyes are baggier than her and she seemed taller than me. Still, I’m not sure whether I’m hallucinating, going crazy, or just shocked. Probably all of it.

I never bothered checking out what the model’s name was, mainly because I can’t read Chinese. However, I shared the same photo and even used it one time as my default picture on Facebook, captioning it with, “Twin?” I wasn’t surprised when people asked if it was me. I said no, of course, but it was so funny seeing people doubt when I told them it was actually someone else.

I know I didn’t particularly answered the Daily Prompt with my tale but why imagine when I have my own share of “coming across” with my twin? I’m pretty sure that there’s no chance in hell that I’ll ever get to meet this girl but wouldn’t it be awesome if I did? Do you know her? Let me know if you do.
